Jenette and Roary O’Rourke of Calverton standup paddleboard from their home on Pinehurst Blvd. in Calverton to Grangebel Park in downtown Riverhead, taking in the fall foliage along the way. There is perhaps no better way to take in fall foliage than on a standup paddleboard, like Jenette and Roary O’Rourke of Calverton did earlier this week. The couple, who are both paddleboard instructors, have lived near the head of the Peconic River at Peconic Lake for the past ten years. Once a week they take their 11-foot boards and travel the four-mile stretch east to Grangebel Park. “It is great seeing all the fish and wildlife. This week we saw a hugh fresh water eel,” Ms. O’Rourke said. “It is wonderful exercise and so relaxing. It is so comfortable with no winds or waves.” The following fall foliage scenes were shot around Peconic Lake in Calverton, Grangebel Park in downtown Riverhead, New Suffolk and Cutchogue. Enjoy!
